Curb Appeal Tips for a Quick Sale

When it comes to selling your house, the quicker you get your house off the market, the better. If your home is on the market for a long time, it can quickly evolve into what’s known as a “stale listing”, which can make your property appear less desirable to other buyers. Luckily, a good portion of the country is currently in a seller’s market, meaning more people are on the lookout for a house than there are properties available. However, that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t put in the effort during the process. One of the biggest factors that can help you sell your home quickly is good curb appeal: first impressions count.

Here are some of our favorite curb appeal tips if you need to sell your home fast.

Remove Garbage and Debris

No matter what you do to improve your home, it’s going to look bad if the outside is covered with junk and garbage. Do a quick sweep of the outside to remove any extraneous trash, leaves, and tools. A good rule is that if it doesn’t serve a specific purpose outside, it shouldn’t be there. Once you do a nice cleaning and organizing of everything outside of the home, you can move on to the more fun aspects of landscaping.

 Pressure Wash Your Siding

Throughout the seasons, the outside of your home becomes victim to the elements. This includes rain, snow, mud, and wind–– all of which can leave your home looking dirty and old. Luckily, one specific cleaning tool exists for you to quickly get rid of the dirtiness: a pressure washer. Pressure washers use high-pressure water and soap to wash down surfaces that are caked in grime, creating a fresh and new appearance in a matter of minutes. These machines can be kind of expensive, but you can rent one from a hardware store in your area!

Repaint Your Front Door

Like siding, your front door can also endure a lot of wear and tear from the seasons. Unfortunately, pressure washing doesn’t usually work the same magic on doors as it does on the siding. We suggest starting by washing the door with soap and water and then using a solid base coat to start. Once added, move on to choosing a coat of paint that will work with the texture of the door. Choose a color that isn’t too flashy, but don’t be afraid of being creative with the color. Try a nice subtle red or dark green, depending on the aesthetic of your home.

 Add New Grass Seeding

If you’re selling your home, show buyers that the grass is greener on the other side. As the spring approaches, add some new grass seeding to get your lawn looking nice and healthy. Be sure to water and trim the existing grass to make sure your lawn is nice and healthy.

First impressions count, which is why you should put curb appeal at the top of your priorities. Follow the tips above to get the exterior looking amazing this spring!
